Thanks for stopping by!
One of the first questions my oldest sister asked when I told her about this blog idea was a reasonable one – “Why ‘peanut butter faith?”. For starters, I love me some peanut butter. Yes, it belongs on everything including but not limited to apples, toast, acai bowls, spoons, sweet potatoes, and if you’re extreme like my dad, the occasional tortilla chip. Regardless of whether you prefer your peanut butter smothered to snacks or stirred into soups, most will agree that this ingredient can be described as pure, nourishing, and unmistakable.
- Pure – It’s quite difficult to make something taste like peanut butter without, well, peanuts. After years of sandwich spread snobbery, I can attest that peanut butters filled with chemicals and fillers just don’t taste quite as satisfying as the naturally good stuff with just two or three ingredients. The more junk added, the less it tastes like what it really is.
- Nourishing – In its purest form, peanut butter is good for us. It’s full of protein to strengthen our muscles for daily tasks, and good fats to maintain our nerve sheaths, insulate our organs, and more.
- Unmistakable – I’m so thankful to not have a peanut allergy, but from the anecdotes of my less fortunate friends, I hear that peanut butter can be smelled from miles away. If even a morsel of peanut butter is added to a recipe, it will be noticed, and there will be consequences. No one ever has to ask if a dish contains peanut butter.
But what does peanut butter have to do with my Christian faith? And why am I sharing about it?
It’s my hope that this blog helps spur you on a quest to follow and reflect Christ’s heart in a way that is nothing short of peanut butter-esque; that is pure, nourishing, and unmistakable. If your journey is anything like mine, you’ll find that the Lord has all sorts of interesting, sometimes painful, but always redeeming lessons to teach on this quest, and all point to His incredible love story. I should preface by saying that though I’ve been walking with the Lord for most of my life, I’ve only recently learned to sprint towards and with Him in my twenties (read more in My Testimony). And lemme tell ya, the road to sanctification is SLOW, y’all. But if our good Father is loving enough to use a crazy, capricious nut like me for His glory, then He’s undoubtedly doing the same with your life. Right. Now (see Romans 8:28). So take a seat, grab a spoon, and taste and see that the Lord is good. Enjoy!

And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 NIV
